Meet Christine
Hi, I’m Christine Smith. I have a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Music Education form the Hartt School of Music, where I studied with early childhood music expert John Feierabend. I have taught music in public and parochial schools and in the university setting for the past 25 years. I am the Program and Artistic Director for the Millikin Children’s Choir Program and direct the youngest ensemble, the Dolce Choir. I am certified in Kodaly and am the past-president of CILKE (Central Illinois Kodaly Educators). I am a member of Opus 24, which is a semi-professional choir, and I perform regularly with the Millikin Decatur Symphony Orchestra and Decatur Municipal Band on both oboe and English horn. I live in Decatur with my husband, two children, and golden retriever. I am so happy to be teaching at Maroa-Forsyth Grade School!
"Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent."
