September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month! Does everyone in your family have a library card? A library card is one of the most cost-effective back-to-school supplies that you can have, especially in this unprecedented time. Both the Maroa and Forsyth Public Libraries offer plenty of options for you and your family, all for free!

With your library card, you can borrow books, movies, audiobooks, CD, and other materials from your library. You can also utilize computers, printers, and free Wi-Fi that is accessible within both libraries as well as from Maroa’s parking lot and back patio.

Both libraries feature OverDrive, where you can check out e-books and audiobooks, and download them to your mobile devices. Forsyth cardholders can also access digital magazines through Overdrive.

If you are looking to access content from home, you can utilize the movie-streaming platforms Kanopy and Hoopla with your Maroa library card, or Freegal to download music with your Forsyth library card.

Both libraries offer plenty of online databases that are great resources for students, including Peterson’s Test Prep and Gale In Context: High School, offered at the Forsyth Public Library, and the SAT test prep and Chilton auto repair database and Ancestry.com/ProQuest at Maroa Public Library. Forsyth Public Library also offers Scholastic Printables (teaching resources and content for Pre-K to 8th grade) and ABC Mouse (an online curriculum for children ages 2 to 8+ that is available for in-library use). If you need a break and are looking for something creative, check out Creativebug.com through your Maroa library card to access thousands of arts and craft tutorial videos and resources.

Of course, both libraries also have great staff willing to help you find what you need, as well as quiet and comfortable study spaces.

Make sure to stop by your local library to sign up or renew your library card to gain access to all of these great resources. You can also contact the Maroa Public Library at 217-794-5111 and the Forsyth Public Library at 217-877-8174.
