Graduation Requirement

October 03, 2022

Beginning with the 2020-21 academic year, P. A. 101-180 now requires all Illinois public high school seniors to complete either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid (Alternative Application) or a FAFSA Nonparticipation Form as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma.

The FAFSA or the Alternative Application are now available to complete at the following website: www.fafsa.gov. The FAFSA Nonparticipation Form is available at the bottom of this page. Completing the FAFSA allows a student to be eligible for grants, loans, and scholarships to pay for training/education after high school. If you would like help in completing the FAFSA, specific instructions on how to complete the FAFSA are available on the Filling Out the FAFSA page. In addition, students with questions about the FAFSA completion may have a real-time conversation with a Call Center Representative by simply clicking on the "Live Support – Online" button, which appears in the bottom right margin of all pages within the During College and After College sections of the Students & Parents area. Also, two helpful documents are attached to this website below.

If you fill out the FAFSA Nonparticipation Form instead then you will need to email Mr. Holthaus the completed FAFSA Nonparticipation Form. Mr. Holthaus' email address is troy.holthaus@mfschools.net.
