Maroa-Forsyth Claims Lead In Sixth Inning To Defeat Auburn
Maroa-Forsyth snatched the lead late in the game in a 13-8 victory over Auburn on Tuesday. The game was tied at six with in the top of the sixth when Hallie Mitchell singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
Auburn knotted the game up at six in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Kaylee Shepard doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The Trojans scored five runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to a triple by Mitchell, a single by Zoey Clark, and a double by Allie Robinson.
Auburn scored four runs in the fifth inning. Cassidy Filipiak and Shepard all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Braylee Finck was the winning pitcher for the Trojans. She allowed eight hits and eight runs over seven innings, striking out six.
Filipiak took the loss for Auburn. She allowed 12 hits and 13 runs over seven innings, striking out seven.
Mitchell and Robinson each had multiple hits for Maroa-Forsyth . Mitchell went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Trojans.
Auburn totaled eight hits. Allory Butler, Shepard, and Filipiak all managed multiple hits for Auburn.
